Route Information

Distance: 8 Miles
Walking Time: 4 Hours
Route Difficulty: ⭐️

This route takes in three separate routes, all of which can be done individually if preferred, the Sett Valley Trail, the Millennium Walk and the Mousley Bottom Nature Reserve. The recommended start point is the paid car park opposite Heyfield as it's right next to the start of the Sett Valley Trail. There is also a car park in New Mills that you can access by going down the little road next to the pub on the roundabout that is also usually not too busy.

Things to Note About the Route

In terms of difficulty this is a very well maintained and easy walking route. The only hilly bit is around the middle of New Mills where the Torr Top part is.

Points of Interest

Along the way I'd recommend keeping an eye out for the following points of interest:

Sett Valley Trail

There's a couple of little walking loops off this trail that are quite wooded and nice to walk around, as well as this there are some Alpacas along the route you can see. Finally about halfway down there is a nice little cafe that's worth a visit.

New Mills and the Millennium Walkway

New Mills itself has some nice little cafes and pubs that are worth a visit, along with a nice tap room in the old mills next to the Millennium Walkway itself. There's also a climbing wall there, and a hydro electric power plant.
