Route Information

Distance: 2.3 Miles
Walking Time: 1 Hours
Route Difficulty: ⭐️

Valehouse Reservoir is the second in the Longdendale Reservoir chain (that feeds into the reservoir's in Tameside) with a well paved route with only one inclined section. Part of the route is the Transpennine Trail which can be followed onwards across the breadth of the country.

Things to Note About the Route

Not too much to note tbh, the route is maintained by United Utilities so is fairly well kept. There's parking off towards the bottom of the reservoir over the bridge between Bottoms and Valehouse.

Points of Interest

Along the way I'd recommend keeping an eye out for the following points of interest:

Valehouse Reservoir

The reservoir is the main sight to see tbh, there's a small jetty on the route which is quite nice, along with the old pump house. Also if it's at a fairly low level, some of the underlying infrastructure becomes visible which is quite interesting.
